"I don't think anyone could have known," Kat says, shaking her head. "We didn't, either. Not at first. Casey figured it out." In retrospect, even she thinks it should have been so obvious, but there'd been so much going on and they'd all been under so much stress. It's strange to think now that it was only a couple of days ago. It seems like so much longer. She isn't sure if that's just because of the drugs, leaving her just fuzzy enough to feel a little distant, or if it's because a change this drastic makes her feel much further removed from home than that.
Probably it's a little of both.
