"A little longer than that for me, but not much," he says, letting go of her shoulder and settling himself into the chair near her bed. He's in no rush to get anywhere else and given her current state, given everything she's just come from, he has to imagine Kat needs the company right now. Angela can't possibly be with her all day and night and while he knows he'll eventually be asked to leave, not being family, he can stay for awhile yet.
"I know it all sounds impossible," he continues. "And nothing at all I can say will make it any easier to believe, but I can assure you it will come with time. Bit by bit, the strangest things about this place won't see quite so odd any longer."
And it may not be that much of a comfort, but it's the most honest one he can give her and that feels important to him. That he be honest.
