"I think they want to wait until after they've put my kneecap back together," Kat says, making a face as she speaks, "and put it in a real cast. As soon as it's set, though, I'm definitely taking you up on that." Were she not currently stuck in a hospital bed, she knows full well that that might be a different story. She'd barely left her bedroom when she came home after Julia died, never mind the house, and already she's looking forward to shutting herself up in the apartment that's been assigned to her and dealing with all of this as little as possible. Being in the hospital, though, one like any other, with a chemical smell and everything white or pastel, is stifling, not to mention uncomfortably familiar. Just to get a little fresh air would make a world of difference. "I already thought I'd had enough of this to last a lifetime."
